Bandai Namco’s Scarlet Nexus Gets Gameplay Trailer

Scarlet Nexus

Let’s talk about Scarlet Nexus.

In the wake of Sony’s great PS5 reveal event, some titles not featured there but still coming to the platform are receiving announcements and trailers (developers are clearly more comfortable with this now that the PS5 is officially announced and in the public consciousness). One such game is Scarlet Nexus, which is developed by Bandai Namco Studios and due for release on both PS4 and PS5. Though announced a little while ago, a new, combat-focused trailer for the title debuted via IGN’s Summer of Gaming on June 15 – and it looks great.

The trailer opens with a short anime-style cinematic which features samurai and what appears to be one of the game’s enemy types, before launching into gameplay. There’s an interesting fusion of aesthetics, the title blending faint steampunk and fantasy with modern-day environments (the samurai during the animation appears to summon an old car chassis from underground, so… there’s that).

Outside of this, the models and backgrounds look absolutely crisp and detailed, and the gameplay is reminiscent of Devil May Cry or something from Platinum. The magic-fuelled swordplay and abilities appear slick, destructive, and acrobatic. It looks like a lot of fun.

Are you excited to play this when it launches? Let us know.
