Sony has announced new release dates for The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima.
Sony has announced its plans for the upcoming The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima. On the official PlayStation Blog, Hermen Hulst the Head of Worldwide studios said:
”As we begin to see an ease in the global distribution environment, I am pleased to confirm that The Last of Us Part II will arrive on 19 June. And Ghost of Tsushima will follow on 17th July.”
The Last of Us Part II was originally intended to release next month on May 29 while Ghost of Tsushima was due for release on June 26. The COVID-19 pandemic changed the course of development for both games, with the former being ‘indefinitely delayed’ a few weeks ago.
Yesterday, The Last of Us Part II leaked online. Footage of the game surfaced across the internet. This included the likes of gameplay, cutscenes, and developer menus. Developer Naughty Dog posted to Twitter following the announcement of the revised release window.

When the leaks surfaced, fans were worried about the length of time before release. They were concerned about avoiding spoilers for months, with little knowledge about the release date. Luckily, it won’t be much longer, with the game being pushed back a few weeks instead of months.

The origin of the leaks are currently being discussed online, but it is rumored to be the result of a spiteful Naughty Dog employee. It is rumored that this individual was frustrated with the companies policies on development crunch, which was investigated by Kotaku recently.
There isn’t much longer to go now, both PS4 exclusives are on the horizon. The Last of Us Part II launches on June 19, while Ghost of Tsushima launches a few weeks later on July 17.
